The Role

We are looking for a Senior Advisor CSP, Closure Americas (AMR), to support a broad range of Communities and Social Performance activities across Rio Tinto's closure and legacy sites in the Americas region, including Canada, the United States and the Caribbean.

This is a great opportunity for a collaborative and organized candidate who applies technical knowledge, expertise and experience to support delivery of CSP programs, including but not limited to – planning, stakeholder engagement, social risk, social impact assessment and cultural heritage management.

Reporting to the Manager CSP and working in a collaborative community, a challenging and exciting environment, within the Closure Americas Team, you will:

  • Lead discussions on asset and studies social risk assessments, considering both inbound and outbound risk
  • Support identification of risk mitigation measures and implementation of effective controls
  • Develop asset level social knowledge base
  • Maintain multi-year asset CSP plans
  • Ensure compliance with internal communities and social performance standards and external standards with social components such as GISTM
  • Lead and support engagement with community, stakeholders and indigenous people across the portfolio
  • Procure and manage consultants to provide surge capacity and specialized work such as cultural heritage management
  • Work closely with communications and external affairs to support both internal and external communications pertaining to stakeholder engagement outreach and promotion of social performance outcomes

  • University degree(s) in Social Science or related field of study
