Job Summary

The Division of Pediatric Surgery is currently looking for a wonderful new Operations Program Manager. Under minimal supervision, this position is responsible for planning, organizing, directing and controlling all aspects of the assigned department’s internal and external customer service, human resource and financial management operations. Acts as a catalyst between the department and its customers and staff to ensure continuity and quality of service and care.

Responsibilities
  • Forecasts, develops and implements policies and procedures in the areas of customer service, human resources and budgetary goals and objectives that are consistent with University of Utah’s policies.
  • Markets and promotes new and existing programs and services to internal and external customers.
  • Participates in University-wide committees to establish customer service standards and administrative plans and policies.
  • Facilitates cooperative and collaborative community and institutional relationships.
  • Ensures customer satisfaction by analyzing complaints, concerns and suggestions and providing appropriate follow-through.
  • Develops departmental strategies consistent with the assigned department’s continuous quality improvement program.
  • Ensures competency of staff through the development and/or presentation of educational programs and through ongoing staff performance evaluations.
  • Oversees strategic coordination and management of the division’s call and clinical schedules for 14 providers across three locations, ensuring optimal coverage, operational efficiency, and high-quality patient access.
  • Leads monthly financial reviews by analyzing division management reports to ensure accuracy of revenue, expenditures, and fund allocations; proactively identifies discrepancies and implements corrective actions.
  • Manages, develops, and supports a diverse, multidisciplinary team—including clinical, administrative, and research staff—by fostering collaboration, enhancing performance, and promoting a positive, inclusive work environment.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Equivalency Statement: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor’s degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).

    Department may hire employee at one of the following job levels:
    Operations Program Manager, III:
    Requires a bachelor’s (or equivalency) + 6 years or a master’s (or equivalency) + 4 years of directly related work experience.

    Preferences

    Four or more years in a supervisor/manager role. Accounting experience. Experience in a healthcare setting.
