The Custodian position provides cleaning services and trash collection and works with one or more Custodians to provide a total cleaning package in assigned areas. This service provider delivers a full range of daily cleaning services in high use and circulation areas, including classrooms, offices, labs, conference rooms, restrooms, entrances, lobbies, elevators, corridors and stairs. Low use such as storage and mechanical rooms will be cleaned intermittently.
- Janitor, I:
Perform routine cleaning and sanitizing duties. Duties may include dusting, sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and vacuuming. Ensure equipment is cleaned and stored following use. Replenish products and supplies in assigned area. Alert appropriate personnel concerning the need for repairs or additions to building operating systems. Notify supervisor of need to order various cleaning supplies and equipment. Remove and dispose of debris or trash.
May perform basic maintenance and repair duties, including outside grounds work as required. Entry-level support role. Performs routine tasks as directed and under close supervision. Requires little to no related experience. - Requires little to no related experience.

Job Responsibilities
- Sweeps, cleans, mops, scrubs and dusts floors.
- Cleans toilets, basins, showers, bathtubs, and scrubs walls; dusts, cleans and vacuums furniture, fixtures doors and related furnishings by using appropriate cleaning supplies.
- Operates and maintains electric floor machines, snow blowers/snow shovels, industrial vacuums, carpet shampooing equipment and upholstery shampooing equipment.
- Cleans, refinishes and maintains a variety of floor coverings.
- Labels and removes infectious waste bags and containers.
- Transports custodial supplies and equipment to and from storage and work areas.
- Replaces sharp containers, transports trash and refuse, removes empty boxes and organizes closets.
