Senior Manager Global Supply Chain Planning MDS – External Suppliers

Overview

Sr Manager, Global Supply Planning for External Suppliers is a key leadership role in the Global Supply Chain Planning organization, reporting to the Associate Director Global Supply Chain Planning – AAD. This position will be based in Salt Lake City, UT, and collaborates with cross‑functional stakeholders to ensure the right supply chain strategies and processes are in place to support global and regional business and customer needs.

The role supports the AAD Global Platform Business Director(s) and Regional Business Leaders, Manufacturing Operations Leaders, Finance Leaders, Marketing & Sales Leaders, R&D Leaders, the BDX Corporate Supply Chain Leaders and Regional Supply Chain Leaders to drive overall business performance for the assigned portfolio, including service levels, inventory health, and cost saving objectives. It requires balancing cash/inventory investments, manufacturing efficiency, financial results, and customer service levels.

The role may involve developing core business processes or leading major (MDS) Supply Chain programs and is a key process leader in monthly Global SIOP/IBP steps for the AAD Platform.

• Devise and coordinate supply chain (SC) strategies on region/global supply chain planning and systems.

• External Supply Network Planning:
  Ensure alignment between external suppliers and BD’s global supply strategy.

  Drive SIOP/IBP processes with external partners and actively manage risks of supply disruptions.

• Ensure adherence to BD standards and regulatory requirements across the external supply base.

• Lead the monthly Global IBP (SIOP) process components, including the Supply Review to drive insights on capacity vs demand, supply gaps, inventory health, New Product Introductions, and portfolio simplification at planner and executive levels.

• Ensure alignment between Platform process components, Regional Demand process components, and MDS components of the IBP process.

• Ensure the supply chain network operates to meet BD market customers’ needs on a consistent basis. Key KPIs include On Time & In Full, Backorder $, Inventory $, DIO, Inventory Health, and Write-Offs (E&O).

• Establish target inventory levels and mix to achieve service levels, backorder incidence/duration, and inventory-DIO goals.

• Deploy the long-term planning strategy for External suppliers with Region, Procurement, and Operational Leaders to ensure timely capital investments.

• Drive process optimization across Operations/Supply Chain by identifying and implementing best practices to improve service and efficiency metrics (Back-order, On-time In-Full, etc.).

• Establish robust short- and long-term global processes to project and monitor financial performance and operating plans, including budgeting, forecasting, inventory management, capacity planning, and sourcing.

• Promote process improvement across IBP and Demand/Supply Management, focusing on NPI, zero-based backlog mindset, and customer centricity.

• Stay aware of future supply chain trends and promote best practices across the Platform.

• Sponsor Supply Chain Process Improvement and Continuous Improvement programs, including SAP & APS (Kinaxis) system utilization.

• Support global system roll-out milestones, including supply chain project planning, master data accuracy, data validation strategies, and integrated testing plans as required.

• Strategic initiatives delivered on time, on specifications, and on budget.

• Performance improvements in FG inventories (including obsolescence reduction), customer service (BO and OTIF), transportation and warehouse cost savings, and flexibility (cycle time, lead time).
