Software Design Engineer

Job Summary

Designs, modifies, develops, writes and implements software programming applications. Supports and/or installs software applications/operating systems. Participates in the testing process through test review and analysis, test witnessing and certification of software.

• Following general guidelines and accepted technical approaches, performs tasks in the design, development, and implementation of software engineering applications; analyzes and investigates software engineering project tasks; defines design specifications and parameters; develops and applies standard routines and utility programs; resolves hardware/software compatibility and interface design considerations; and assesses system architecture requirements and structure.
• Assignments are defined in terms of general objectives and are of diverse scope and moderate technical complexity; may assign work to lower level technical support employees; relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals; performs a variety of tasks; works under general supervision; typically reports to a manager; a certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.

• Requires a bachelor's degree in a related area or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) and 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
