Role Overview

Recursion is looking for a Senior Application Systems Administrator who excels at the intersection of enterprise software management and modern Dev Ops. You will be the technical owner for a suite of mission-critical applications—specifically POSIT (Workbench, Connect, Package Manager),
Service Now
, and Workato
.

This is not a traditional "infrastructure-only" role. While you will use Kubernetes and Terraform to manage environments, your success is defined by the health, integration, and user experience of our core business and scientific platforms. We need a "Full-Stack Administrator" who can manage the cloud resources, the application configuration, and the automated workflows that connect them.

• POSIT SME: Serve as the primary administrator for our scientific computing stack (POSIT). Lead upgrades, manage R/Python libraries, and optimize performance for our research teams.
• Workflow Automation: Use Workato to build and maintain robust integrations between our enterprise tools. You’ll be the architect behind our automated business logic.
• Service Now Platform Management: Engineer custom workflows and modules, operationalize the day-to-day technical administration of Service Now, including configuration, scripting (Business Rules/Client Scripts), and maintaining its health as our source of truth for IT operations.
• Dev Ops as a Tool: Leverage GKE (Kubernetes) and Terraform to treat your applications as code. You will ensure that our application deployments are repeatable, scalable, and secure.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as the bridge between Data Scientists, HR, and Finance teams to ensure their specific software needs are translated into technical reality.

You will be joining a growing IT and Information Security team at Recursion, focused on securely implementing and operating our systems, IT Infrastructure, tools, and technologies that enable Recursion to decode biology by running experiments at scale from experiment conception through successful execution. You'll collaborate with your teammates and across departments to agree on what the most important challenges and capabilities are, then figure out how to get us there.

• Multi-App Expertise: 5+ years of experience in enterprise application administration. Proven experience managing POSIT, Service Now, or Workato is a massive plus.
• Automation Mindset: Experience with Workato (or similar iPaaS like Mule Soft/Tray.io) to automate workflows and sync data across disparate systems.

  Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes (GKE) and Terraform. You should be comfortable deploying applications into containerized environments.
• Service Now Savvy: Familiarity with the Service Now data model, ITSM modules, and how to perform platform maintenance.
• Service Orientation: You are a problem-solver who enjoys helping people. You view the "users" of your applications as your primary customers.

• Primary Apps: POSIT (Workbench, Connect, Package Manager), Service Now, Workato.
• Infrastructure: GCP (Google Cloud Platform), GKE (Kubernetes).
• CI/CD & Automation: Terraform, Ansible, Git Hub Actions.
• Note: This position is a 3 to 6 month contract.
