The Applications Administrator Lead is a key contributor on the BYU-Pathway Systems Team, reporting to the Director of Technology Operations. This role owns the administration, reliability, and continuous improvement of core enterprise applications that support more than 5,000 instructors and workforce staff worldwide. The position requires strong independent judgment, technical depth, and cross-functional collaboration, and manages a team of three student employees.

Responsibilities

Enterprise Application Ownership:
Serve as the primary administrator and subject matter expert for assigned enterprise applications, ensuring reliability, scalability, and optimal performance.

Independent Operations Leadership:
Plan and execute system configurations, upgrades, integrations, and access controls with minimal oversight.

Systems Administration & Data Governance:
Administer Anthology SIS and related systems, managing configurations, integrations, and Azure AD-based access controls while ensuring data accuracy and governance compliance.

Operational Monitoring & Support:
Monitor application health and performance, lead issue investigation and resolution, and coordinate with vendors and internal partners as needed.

Continuous Improvement:
Identify and implement process and technology improvements that enhance efficiency, reliability, and user experience.

Security & Compliance:
Enforce logical and physical security controls and ensure compliance with FERPA and institutional data privacy standards.

On-Call & Critical Operations Support:
Provide or coordinate after-hours support during critical system maintenance, upgrades, or outages.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Work closely with Academic Student Support, Admissions, the Registrar’s Office, ICS, and other stakeholders to align systems with institutional priorities.

Documentation & Knowledge Sharing:
Maintain clear documentation for system configurations, processes, and support workflows.

Other Duties:
Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to support evolving organizational needs.

Qualifications

Required

Bachelors degree in Information Systems , Business, Administration, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Minimum of two years of experience in applications administration or a closely related technical role.

Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage priorities, and make sound technical decisions.

Strong understanding of enterprise application functionality and operational support models.

Proven analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Experience using digital work management or ticketing tools (e.g., Jira, Azure Dev Ops, Service Now, Trello).

Preferred

Experience supporting higher education or student information systems.

Experience with cloud-based and SaaS platforms.

Familiarity with Azure Active Directory and identity/access management…
