Data Scientist / Data Analyst to support our nation in the effort to
protect our environment from hazardous waste.
Gold Systems provides support to the
EPA in a variety of ways including
software development, system design, reporting, data analysis, documentation, testing, and training
. You will participate actively in projects, taking part in decisions affecting project scope, design and direction. Our team members demonstrate ownership and accountability, regularly innovate, and move our work forward individually and as a team.
- Analyze large datasets (primarily hazardous waste data).
- Develop compelling and intuitive data visualizations using tools such as Metabase, Python, and Tableau in order to tell the story of the data.
- Translate scientific findings into clear, actionable insights for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Build reproducible data pipelines and contribute to lightweight modeling efforts (e.g. forecasting, geospatial analysis, trend detection).
- Collaborate with project managers and leadership to support client projects and internal research.
- Present results in reports, dashboards, presentations, and interactive visual tools.
- Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field
- 4+ years of experience working with large datasets or similar applied data roles.
- Experience and knowledge of Python libraries like Pandas and Num Py.
- Strong proficiency in SQL to create complex data queries.
- Expertise in a data visualization tool.
- Familiarity with monitoring data and sustainability metrics.
- Ability to communicate complex information clearly and visually.
- Self-starter comfortable working in a small, fast-moving team environment.
- Excellent professional communication and people skills (verbal and written).
- A Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience with geospatial tools (GIS or ArcGIS).
- Web development experience to create/publish data and visualizations.
- Experience with R.
- Metabase, Python, R, Tableau, Power BI, Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Jira, Bit Bucket, Oracle, SQL
- Option to work remotely or in our Salt Lake City, Utah office.
