SENIOR CATERING DIRECTOR – University of Utah – Salt Lake City, UT

Join Chartwells Higher Education Dining Services as the Senior Catering Director, leading a $2 million catering department that serves the University of Utah community. You will develop and execute catering solutions, manage events from coffee services to VIP dining occasions, and collaborate closely with the Executive Chef on menu development.

As the Senior Catering Director, you>

• Oversee all catering events ensuring seamless execution and exceptional customer satisfaction.
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive catering marketing plan, offering event planning services and detailed menu development.
• Lead hiring, training, and scheduling of catering staff, enhancing service techniques, menu presentation, and policy compliance.
• Control labor and food costs, manage P&L, and ensure efficient preparation, transportation, setup, operation, and cleanup of all events.
• Collaborate with management and marketing teams to build catering revenue and expand market reach.
• Foster strong client relationships to align programs with client objectives and drive retention.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support dining service operations.

• Associate’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of five years of catering leadership experience, including two years in management.
• Experience in booking, selecting, costing menu items, pricing contracts, and sourcing temporary help and equipment.
• Strong supervisory skills with a track record of maintaining high‑quality standards.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Proficiency with computers and Serv Safe® Certified.
