The Department of Surgery at University of Utah Health highly values Advanced Practice Clinicians (APCs) in our clinical operations in both inpatient and ambulatory practice. The Division of General Surgery, Surgical ICU is looking for an Advanced Practice Clinician (NP or PA) who is a patient focused, self-motivated provider who has the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Our APCs are valued members of our teams and work collaboratively with their physicians as well as independently. We expect excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment. In addition to working in a world class institution with excellent benefits, there is ongoing education with weekly Grand Rounds, practice standards guided by evidence based research, and opportunities for project and research involvement.
- Bedside care of critically ill patients in a 12 bed Surgical ICU.
- Procedures:
Based on need, training, and proficiency. - Participate in team meetings, education conferences, creation of SICU APC and Resident call schedules, as well as opportunities for research and QI project involvement.
- Collaborate with multiple team members to ensure the best outcomes possible.

Qualifications- Minimum Qualifications: Licensure to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Utah.
- Preferred: Certification in ACLS / BLS / NRP / ATLS may be required by your department or by privileging criteria.
- Utah State prescriptive privileges.
- Licensure is obtained by completing a Master’s degree in Nursing or equivalency and a National Certification which requires the successful completion of a nationally accredited examination.
- UHPPM 1-56 requires that newly hired non-physician providers apply for credentialing and privileging at the time of hire.
- This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements. Immunization against CDC standards is required unless exempted for medical or religious reasons per hospital policy.
- Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.
- Critical care experience preferred but not required, inpatient experience preferred.
