Overview
Adapt Health is hiring a Medical Equipment Technician for the 12 PM to 8:30 PM shift. The role involves safe delivery, setup, and education on the use of home medical equipment for customers. Setup may occur in homes, long-term care settings, clinics, or other locations as needed to service patients.
Responsibilities- Develop and maintain working knowledge of current HME products and services offered by the company and applicable governmental regulations.
- Comply with all applicable company policies and procedures.
- Educate customers in proper use and care of respiratory and HME equipment in a home setting.
- Complete required documentation following equipment setup, delivery, or pickups as required.
- Assist with customer equipment problems under emergency conditions.
- Process all orders in a timely, accurate manner.
- Promote services and products to referral sources in the community as appropriate.
- Develop basic reimbursement knowledge and document information necessary to ensure reimbursement for equipment, products, and services.
- Assist with the implementation of quality improvement programs to meet company policies.
- Maintain home oxygen systems through regularly scheduled visits to customers.
- Safely drive and maintain the company vehicle.
- Perform patient assessment and re-assessment for patient care.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance and simple repairs on equipment as required in accordance with company policies.
- Report equipment hazards and/or product incidents as required in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Remain compliant with Adapt Health’s Compliance Program.
- Maintain PPE, infection control, and hazardous materials handling procedures; protect patient confidentiality per HIPAA.
- Complete assigned compliance training and other required programs.
- Maintain on-call responsibilities as required by company policy.
- Access patient residences without assistance as needed and travel to service areas; drive independently.
- Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication with customers, showing empathy, courtesy, and respect for privacy.
- Minimum
Job Qualifications: - High School Diploma or equivalent
- Entry level sales or customer service background preferred
- One (1) year of military, delivery driver with sales component, or health care technician experience considered related and preferred
- Two (2) years of related work experience and one (1) year of exact job experience for senior level
- Valid and unrestricted driver’s license in the state of residence
- Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds
- Ability to stretch, bend, stoop, crouch, and perform moderate to heavy physical labor when moving equipment
- Subject to long periods of sitting and driving
- Work environment may be stressful at times with fluctuating activities
- Exposure to unsanitary conditions in some home settings and potentially hazardous materials, loud noise, extreme temperatures, and pathogens
- May be exposed to high-crime areas; may encounter angry or irate customers
- Must be able to drive independently and travel as needed
- Must be able to access patient residences without assistance
- Strong mental alertness and the ability to communicate effectively with customers
