Overview
A Medical Assistant has accountability for providing care to patients in an ambulatory clinic setting. This will involve caring for patients with acute and chronic needs. A Medical Assistant will be responsible for communicating clearly with patients seeking care through different modalities including telephone and in-person interactions.
Shift Details10 hours/week, Part Time. Clinic hours are Monday-Friday 10:00am-7:00pm. Schedule will be Fridays 9:45am-7:00pm.

Additional DetailsPlease review Minimum Qualifications listed below before applying. We are looking for an MA with at least one year of MA experience as well as prior Patient Service Representative experience. This position will require the selected candidate to work in both positions as needed. Bilingual Spanish speaking candidates are highly preferred. No weekend shifts!
Role and Responsibilities- Provide patient care:
Under the direction of the clinician, assist the provider to gather information relative to the patient’s visit and condition. - Effective communication:
Communicate clearly with patients seeking care through telephone and in-person interactions. - Team collaboration:
Work with cross-functional teams to collaborate on patient care. Attention to detail and follow-through are key components in providing the needed care.
- One of the following: completion of a Medical Assistant program OR at least one year of Medical Assistant work experience OR current active and in-good-standing RN/LPN license to practice nursing in Utah.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for healthcare providers (must be obtained prior to start date).
- Demonstrated basic computer skills involving word processing and data entry.
- Professional manner and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with patients and caregivers to deliver high-level customer/patient satisfaction.
- Ability to protect privacy, confidentiality, and PHI of patients, members, and caregivers.
- Utah Only:
If certified with less than one year of MA experience, caregivers may attend a yearlong MA residency program.
- Experience in an outpatient clinic or other healthcare setting.
- Computer literacy in using EMR systems and other relevant software.
- Current national MA certification from one of the following: RMA (AMT), NCMA, CCMA, CMA (AAMA).
- Ongoing need to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
- Frequent communication with patients and staff; ability to hear and respond quickly, including during emergencies.
- Manual dexterity for equipment handling and computer use.
- Ability to lift and transfer patients and handle supplies and equipment of varying weights.
- Ability to walk, assist with transport, and navigate busy clinical environments.
- Stamina to stand for extended periods.
- If driving is required, ability to drive a vehicle and respond to traffic signs and signals.
