The EH&S Specialist will support Denali Therapeutics in maintaining a safe and compliant workplace. This role is ideal for someone passionate about health, safety, and environmental protection who is eager to learn and grow in the biotechnology industry. You will assist the EH&S team in the implementation of safety programs, perform inspections, and ensure regulatory compliance in a laboratory and office environment.

Key Accountabilities /

Core Job Responsibilities
  • Support EH&S Program Implementation:
    Assist with the development and implementation of EH&S policies and procedures, including chemical safety, ergonomics, hazardous waste management, and emergency preparedness.
  • Regulatory Compliance Support:
    Help ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulations by maintaining records and assisting in audits and inspections.
  • Incident Reporting and Documentation:
    Assist with the documentation and reporting of workplace incidents, near misses, and corrective actions. Help investigate incidents and contribute to identifying root causes.
  • Conduct Safety Inspections:
    Perform regular inspections of laboratory and office spaces to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety protocols. Report findings to the EH&S team and assist in corrective actions.
  • Employee Training and Awareness:
    Support the delivery of safety training sessions for new hires and current employees on topics such as laboratory safety, emergency procedures, and handling hazardous materials.
  • Emergency Response Support:
    Assist with the maintenance of emergency response plans, equipment (such as fire extinguishers and spill kits), and participate in emergency drills.
  • Data Collection and Reporting:
    Help track and analyze EH&S metrics, including incidents, safety observations, and waste management. Assist with preparing reports for internal teams and regulatory bodies.
  • Hazardous Waste Management:
    Assist in coordinating the proper disposal of hazardous materials according to company policy and legal regulations. Ensure proper labeling and storage of hazardous materials.
Qualifications / Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in an EH&S role
  • Recent graduates are encouraged to apply. Internships or coursework related to EH&S are a plus.
  • Basic understanding of EH&S regulations and best practices
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience through internships, part-time work, or academic projects related to environmental health and safety or laboratory safety.
  • Familiarity with hazardous materials management or safety protocols in a laboratory environment is a plus.
  • Certification in First Aid, CPR, or OSHA 10-hour/30-hour training is advantageous but not required.
  • Experience in digital content creation and management is a plus
