POSITION OVERVIEW
The Waiting Room Ambassador is a key member of Fourth Street Clinic's operations team, assisting patients in navigating clinic services, registration, and care processes. This role helps maintain a welcoming and organized waiting room environment while supporting registration, triage, and volunteer staff. The position offers a fast‑paced, rewarding, and engaging introduction to healthcare, particularly for individuals interested in serving underserved populations, with opportunities for professional growth.
ESSENTIALDUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist patients in accessing clinic services, provide information, sign them up for waitlists, and answer questions.
- Monitor the waiting room to maintain a safe and welcoming environment; notify staff of issues or concerns as needed.
- Facilitate clinic flow by updating and monitoring the patient tracking board.
- Utilize trauma‑informed care approaches when interacting with patients.
- Support registration team activities and other in‑clinic patient‑related tasks as needed.
- Assist triage RN staff with patient communication and triage processes.
- Participate in training opportunities and clinic activities to enhance job performance and satisfaction.
- This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities.
- Primarily indoor work in a clinic setting.
- Fast‑paced environment requiring collaboration across multiple clinic teams.
- Prolonged standing and walking throughout the shift.
- Occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs.
- Visual and auditory acuity sufficient for patient interactions and computer use.
- Requires manual dexterity for using computers and office equipment.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize work, and remain composed in a busy environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer use.
- 2-3 years of customer service experience.
- Spanish‑speaking skills.
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems or previous medical office experience.
