The position provides technical functions associated with the delivery of clinical pharmacy services. Responsibilities include maintaining proper stock levels in all pharmacy locations, compounding or otherwise preparing, filling, pricing, and delivering pharmaceuticals or related items. The incumbent may enter prescriptions, complete reports, operate and maintain automated dispensing devices, input computer data, and provide all aspects of customer service required to provide Pharmacy Department services.

The role reports directly to a pharmacist and is expected to plan, coordinate, and implement training programs for other staff. Advanced services include IV therapy, preparation of chemotherapy, maintenance of automated dispensing machines, narcotic coordination, investigational drug therapy, and billing/coding.

• Assist the pharmacist in advanced patient care tasks.
• Effectively manage department supplies.
• Problem‑solve operational issues related to the medication use process.
• Assist in education and training of staff and trainees.

• Perform essential job functions as outlined above.
• Provide appropriate care to the population served.
• Familiarity with medical terminology.
• Follow pre‑established departmental policies and procedures.
• Adapt work routines according to patient care priorities.
• Screen for medication order errors, drug or allergy contraindications, and process non‑formulary drug requests.
• Problem‑solve operation and maintenance of all automated pharmacy systems.
• Perform mathematical calculations for compounding, dosage preparation, error rectification, and record reconciliation.

• 6 months experience as a Licensed Pharmacy Technician.

• Current Pharmacy Technician licensure in the state of Utah.

Employee must be able to meet the following requirements with or without an accommodation. This position involves light work that may exert up to 20 pounds and may consistently require light work involving lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise moving objects. Employees will stand for extended periods, handle heavy or bulky supply containers, and may be exposed to normal workplace environments.
