Overview
The Neuromuscular Neuropsychologist (NN) will be part of a thriving academic/clinical team in the Division of Pediatric Neurology, Department of Pediatrics, University of Utah School of Medicine. The NN will provide a full range of psychotherapeutic, diagnostic, and training activities, and deliver high-level psychological assessment, diagnosis, and evidence-based treatment services for children with neuromuscular or other pediatric neurological disorders, in inpatient and outpatient settings.
Clinical activities will take place primarily at Primary Children's Hospital and the Eccles Outpatient Building. The NN is expected to be an integral part of clinical research efforts in neuropsychological testing for clinical trials and other research projects, including cognitive and behavioral components of children and young adults with neuromuscular disorders.
- Provide a full range of psychotherapeutic, diagnostic, and training activities; deliver high-level psychological assessment, diagnosis, and treatment services.
- Conduct clinical activities primarily at Primary Children’s Hospital and the Eccles Outpatient Building.
- Contribute to clinical research efforts in neuropsychological testing for clinical trials and other research efforts, including cognitive and behavioral components of children and young adults with neuromuscular disorders.
- Engage in education activities and participate in quality improvement and advocacy efforts within the division.
- Collaborate with neuromuscular and neuroimaging colleagues as part of a multidisciplinary team addressing pediatric neurological conditions such as epilepsy, vascular disease, movement disorders, neonatal neurology, headache, and functional neuroimaging.
- Ph.D. from an APA-accredited graduate program in Educational Psychology/Counseling Psychology.
- Successful completion of an APA-approved doctoral internship in Counseling Psychology.
- Research experience in pediatric neuromuscular disorders, including publications, with prior involvement in neuromuscular clinical trials.
- Faculty appointment in the Department of Pediatrics, Clinical Track, at the rank of Assistant Professor.
