This position is responsible for the completion of specialized vascular examinations to aid in the diagnosis of vascular disease and to guide the determination of therapy options. This position provides direct patient care and may be required to access and administer medications within their scope of practice and according to state law.

• Coordinates and prioritizes ordered exams.
• Collaborates and coordinates with medical staff including, but not limited to, physicians, APCs, medical fellows and residents, and other medical staff.
• Collects medical information and patient histories.
• Performs vascular ultrasound exams in accordance to the department and overseeing accredited body's outlined protocols and procedures.
• Appropriately documents exam and preliminary impressions.
• Cleans and maintains equipment, supplies, and work area.
• Maintains proficiency in all vascular lab procedures and learns new protocols, as additional procedures are developed.
• Participates in research studies above standard-of-care testing, as assigned.
• Precepts students, as assigned.
• Mentors Level I and Level II sonographers, as assigned.
• Performs lead technologist duties, as assigned.
• Rotates to community clinic locations, as assigned and as determined by department needs.
• May be assigned shared mobile outreach duties in support of Vascular Surgery clinics at various outreach locations.

• Ability to assess data regarding the patient s status.
• Ability to provide care as described in the department s policies and procedures manual.
• Demonstrated knowledge of vascular anatomy and physiology.
• Demonstrated effective communication and human relation skills.

• Must meet all eligibility requirements of a Vascular Lab Technologist II.
• Three (3) years of experience as a Vascular Lab Technologist or two (2) years with completion of an approved, one (1) year externship program.
• Verified competency in at least two (2) of the following areas:
  Pelvic congestion Duplex;
  Mesenteric Duplex - Nutcracker’s Syndrome evaluation;
  Renal Duplex.

• Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system. The eCredential is to be obtained within 30 days of hire.
• One of the following certifications: RVT (ARDMS), RVS (CCI), or RT(VS) (ARRT). Additional license requirements as determined by the hiring department.

• Employee must be able to meet the following requirements with or without an accommodation. This position involves intensive work that may exert up to 100 pounds and may consistently require lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling or otherwise moving objects, such as medical equipment, or patients while providing medical care. Workers in this position may be exposed to infectious diseases and may be required to function around prisoners and behavioral health patients.
