Compensation: $175,000 – $225,000/year + bonus

Atlantic Group is hiring a Head of Credit Risk in Salt Lake City, UT for our client. In this in-office role, you will lead counter party credit risk across derivatives, lending, funding, and deposits, setting risk appetite and approving transactions while partnering with trading, lending, and senior leadership. This role requires strong financial institutions credit experience, sound risk judgment, and the ability to independently assess, defend, and communicate credit decisions.
Responsibilities- Counter party Credit Assessment:
Assess the creditworthiness of financial institution counter parties using quantitative and qualitative analysis of financial performance, governance, and risk. - Risk Appetite & Portfolio Oversight:
Define, manage, and monitor credit risk appetite across derivatives, loans, funding, and deposits. - Transaction Approval & Documentation:
Approve derivative and funding transactions while ensuring appropriate documentation, collateral, and risk mitigants are in place. - Credit Underwriting & Support:
Underwrite lending transactions, develop credit recommendations, and support capital and credit committee approvals. - Monitoring & Leadership:
Monitor counter parties and subsectors, present risk insights to senior management, and lead and mentor junior credit professionals.
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required. - Experience:
5+ years of experience covering financial institutions within counter party credit risk, fixed income research, or institutional credit analysis, with senior-level responsibility preferred. - Industry Knowledge:
Expertise across banks, broker-dealers, insurers, and other financial institutions, with strong familiarity in derivatives, funding, and lending products. - Technical
Skills:
Working knowledge of ISDA/CSA, MRA, MSFTA, and credit agreements, with familiarity applying internal and regulatory risk rating frameworks. - Skills & Attributes:
Strong judgment with the ability to make independent credit decisions, clearly present credit views, manage priorities, and lead high-performing teams.
