Job Description

VP Deposit Operations at GM Financial Bank is a strategic leadership role responsible for optimizing the Bank’s deposit portfolio through effective pricing strategies and relationship management. This hybrid role combines analytical oversight of deposit pricing across all funding channels with direct relationship management of key external partners, including deposit brokers and fintech platforms. The role ensures competitive positioning in the market, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence in deposit acquisition and retention.

The position also leads a small team of analysts and reports to senior leadership on deposit trends, pricing recommendations, and partner performance.

Responsibilities
  • Deposit Pricing Strategy
    :
    Develop and implement deposit pricing strategies across retail, brokered, and digital channels.
  • Monitor market trends and competitor rates to inform pricing decisions.
  • Present pricing recommendations to the Rate Committee and adjust strategies based on market dynamics and funding needs.
  • Partner Relationship Management
    :
    Lead the end-to-end implementation, configuration, and optimization of a retail deposit platform, ensuring alignment with operational, regulatory, and customer-experience requirements.
  • Manage and cultivate relationships with deposit brokers and digital deposit platforms.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for external deposit platforms and ensure service-level expectations are met.
  • Operational Oversight
    :
    Supervise the performance of deposit platforms.
  • Address and resolve customer service issues in coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, including brokered deposit restrictions and reporting obligations.
  • Team Leadership
    :
    Lead and mentor a team of two Deposit Pricing & Relationships Analysts.
  • Oversee the team’s work on pricing analysis, rate change proposals, and partner support.
  • Foster a culture of data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Reporting & Compliance
    :
    Prepare and present regular reports on deposit performance, pricing effectiveness, and partner metrics.
  • Collaborate with Compliance and Risk teams to ensure all deposit activities meet regulatory standards.
Qualifications
  • Must have in-depth understanding industry-specific knowledge and technical expertise
  • Industry Expertise:
    In-depth knowledge of deposit products, pricing strategies, and funding channels (retail, brokered, digital).
  • Regulatory Knowledge:
    Familiarity with FDIC regulations, brokered deposit rules, and compliance standards.
  • Technical Acumen:
    Understanding of core banking systems and digital deposit platforms.
  • Advanced understanding of macro, economic and credit trends as it pertains to capital markets
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to effectively and proactively communicate with all levels of the organization including senior management and external constituents
  • Strong ability to analyze complex information and make effective decisions based on analysis
  • Advanced ability to negotiate legal documents with internal/external counsel and manage projects
  • Excellent organizational, detail orientation and time management skills
  • Strong leadership skills in developing highly engaged teams
  • Excellent computer skills are required including advanced MS Excel and MS Power Point
  • Prior experience working in or with a state chartered Industrial Bank in the state of Utah or similar regulated financial institution is a strong plus.
Work Experience
  • 7-10 years’ experience in corporate finance, treasury or banking required
  • 5-7 years  supervisory or other management experience required
Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field of study required
  • Master’s Degree or certification (MBA, CFA) preferred
