Senior Associate, State & Local Income Tax - Asset Management

Join KPMG’s State and Local Tax practice to help clients navigate complex state and local tax issues in multi‑state alternative investment and corporate scenarios.

• Participate in multi‑state alternative investment firms with state and local tax compliance, advising, planning, and controversies.
• Work with multi‑state companies on tax controversies, preparing clients for audits, representing them at hearings and appeals, and drafting protests.
• Collaborate on a multidisciplinary team, providing industry knowledge and subject‑matter expertise.
• Review state income tax returns throughout the preparation process.
• Build and manage client relationships while supervising, mentoring, and developing staff.
• Research and draft technical memoranda on income, franchise, and sales and use tax questions.

• Minimum two years of experience preparing state income tax returns for pass‑through and corporate entities and conducting multi‑state tax research.
• Bachelor’s degree (or J.D., LL.M., or master’s in taxation).
• Experience serving pass‑through entities and solid knowledge of relevant state tax concepts.
• Strong relationship‑building skills internally and with clients.
• Ability to thrive in a high‑energy team environment.
• Excellent writing, compliance, communication, and tax research skills.
