We are seeking an experienced BIM Modeler to be involved in the strategy, process, modeling, and coordination of projects being prepared for construction. The BIM Modeler supports the Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) process through accurate digital representation of electrical systems and maintains close communication with VDC Coordinators to ensure coordination, clash‑free modeling, and successful prefabrication and field execution. This individual will be involved in all modeling efforts for 2D and 3D coordination and prefabrication shop drawings.
We are seeking someone who can multi‑task and work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Review and production of 2D and 3D drawings for field installations and coordination with other sub‑contractor trades.
- Participate in coordination meetings to resolve clashes while maintaining budget, constructability requirements.
- Produce shop drawings, cross‑sections of underground, conduits and cables and other systems as required for instructions to fabrication and installation crew.
- Prepare documentation requesting clarification of original design in the form of RFIs and follow up responses.
- Read architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical floor plans, section and elevations.
- Confer with engineer of record and project management staff to resolve problems and explain drawings to production or construction teams and provide adjustments as necessary.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Comply with all company operating policies, procedures and safety programs.
The successful BIM/VDC Coordinator will either be a Journeyman Electrician OR have previous successful experience as a BIM/VDC Detailer OR have related experience as an engineer, technical design, or construction management. The following qualifications are required:
- Experience as a BIM/VDC Coordinator; BIM/VDC Detailer or related experience as an engineer, technical design, or construction management experience using Autodesk Revit and Navisworks.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Navisworks, or other model viewing/collaboration software preferred.
- Understanding of all facets of construction blueprint, specifications and Requests for Information (architectural, structural, civil, mechanical, plumbing, electrical and special systems).
- Knowledgeable in 3D coordination with other trades.
- Understanding of basic computer skills (ex. folder structure, emails & attachments, keyboard shortcuts).
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
