As a Fire Sprinkler Design Engineer, you will be responsible for creating detailed fire protection system layouts in compliance with NFPA standards, local codes, and project specifications. You will collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, contractors, and clients to ensure accurate, timely, and cost-effective designs.
Key Responsibilities- Develop complete fire sprinkler system layouts using AutoCAD or Revit software.
- Perform hydraulic calculations.
- Interpret various construction documents, including architectural, structural, and mechanical drawings.
- Interpret and apply NFPA, state, and local building/fire codes.
- Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and internal teams to resolve design challenges.
- Prepare submittal drawings, material lists, and fabrication sheets.
- Perform a field check of sprinkler system design to verify pipe routing, elevations, and to avoid conflicts with other trades.
- Support field crews during installation with design clarifications.
- 2+ years of fire sprinkler design experience.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (experience with Hydra
CAD a plus). - Strong understanding of NFPA 13, 20, and 25 standards.
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- NICET Certification in Water-Based Systems Layout (Level II or higher).
- Experience with hydraulic calculation software.
- Knowledge of 3D modeling (Revit, BIM) for MEP coordination.
