Position: Controls Technician III - Salt Lake City, UT

Overview

Controls Technician III – Salt Lake City, Utah. Albany Engineered Composites (AEC) is a technically advanced designer and manufacturer of lightweight composite aerospace structures, subassemblies and components. We support defense and commercial industries with products for platforms including commercial transports, fighter jets and rotorcraft, and for defense programs such as the F-35, CH-53K and JASSM. As our Controls Technician, you will provide technical support, problem solving, documentation maintenance, modifications, and continuous improvement for power panels and automated controls systems. You will report to the Maintenance Manager and collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to maintain, troubleshoot, and upgrade equipment to meet aerospace industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Maintenance, troubleshooting and installation of custom automated equipment.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot automated equipment which enables the manufacturing of unique composite products.
  • Assist in modification and upgrades to equipment under the direction of the global engineering group to ensure conformance with design and performance specifications.
  • Drive continuous improvements in safety, quality, delivery and cost.
  • Identify, maintain, and troubleshoot AB RS LOGIX 5000 and related components.
  • Identify, maintain, and troubleshoot automation and mechanical components.
  • Identify, maintain, and troubleshoot power transmission systems including motor starters, VFDs, DC drives, and standard components.
  • Hands-on troubleshooting for 480V 3-phase, 110 VAC, and 24

    VDC systems.
  • Interpret drawings mechanical and electrical; work from electrical schematics, blueprints and technical manuals.
  • Identify, maintain, and utilize SCADA systems and KPIs; train others as needed.
  • Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on production systems to minimize downtime and ensure continuous production.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical control issues with effective solutions to minimize disruptions and safety hazards.
  • Lead and assist in installation, modification, and commissioning of electrical systems with adherence to safety standards.
  • Interpret and work from electrical schematics, blueprints, and manuals.
  • Analyze failures, determine root causes, and develop solutions.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to plan automation upgrades and maintain documentation of work performed.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in reading electrical schematics and blueprints.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical codes, regulations, and safety standards.
  • Experience with aerospace manufacturing or similar precision industry is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and communication abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team; leadership abilities as needed.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts and overtime as required.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with ability to diagnose advanced problems quickly.
  • 5-7 years of hands-on troubleshooting of PLC and automated controls maintenance; familiarity with Rockwell, Siemens, LabVIEW, Yaskawa, GE Proficy, and related technologies; ability to program and troubleshoot electrical control systems.
  • Working knowledge of Programmable Logic and ability to interpret and use time-based and relational databases.
  • Adhere to safety regulations and ensure automation systems comply with standards.
  • Collaborate with engineering on automation upgrades and maintain accurate records of repairs, installations, and modifications.
  • Respond to production emergencies to minimize downtime.
  • Must be able to work in a Department of Defense contractor environment as US Persons; visa sponsorship is not offered.

Evening;
Monday-Friday, 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM.
