Description

JOB SUMMARY

Plans and coordinates environmental compliance activities and duties associated with UTA’s obligations under legal and other requirements or commitments to which the organization subscribes (e.g. RCRA, CERCLA, CAA, CWA, local and state regulations). Researches and recommends corporate environmental policies and operating procedures. Develops and evaluates programs designed to reduce environmental impacts of discharges and wastes generated from maintenance facilities and promotes recycling activities.

Collaborates with environmental consulting firms to manage certificates of compliance, environmental covenants, property acquisitions, required environmental permits and other records of decision (e.g. industrial waste water discharge permits, storm water permits, underground storage tanks, superfund sites, due-diligence documents). Oversees or develops programs and projects to achieve and maintain compliance with federal, state and local requirements and interprets federal and state environmental regulations.

Functions as a company contact to regulatory agencies.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Geology, Chemistry, Physical Sciences or related field.

Experience

• Five years previous related work experience with demonstrated progressive competency in Environmental Management, Resource Conservation Recovery Act and Comprehensive Emergency Response and Compensation Liability Act related issues and federal, state and local environmental regulatory compliance issues.
• Must have current knowledge of federal, state and local environmental laws, requirements, regulations and Acts.
• Demonstrated ability to play a lead role in coordinating environmental projects or environmental documents.
• State of Utah Certified Groundwater and Soil Sampler, OSHA 40 Hour Hazardous Materials Training and experience with SW-846 methodologies, EPA 600 Series Methodologies and DEQ UST regulations are preferred.
• Familiarity and experience with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) requirements is a plus.

• A valid Utah Driver License is required. Must have a good driving record with no more than 4 moving violations in a 3 year period. Cannot have more than 1 violation of driving under the influence of alcohol, any drug, or the combined influence of any alcohol or any drug within the last 10 years.

• An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
