Principal Geologist 1 - Geological and Structural Modelling (Kennecott Exploration Company, Salt Lake City, UT)

Support Rio Tinto Exploration and Product Groups in decision-making on high priority business opportunities – mergers, acquisitions, project development. Create deposit to district scale geological and structural models from raw data - geological mapping, drilling and remotely sensed data (geophysics, satellite imagery). Carry out due diligence review of 3rd party geological and resource models in support of commercial business opportunities. Supervise and review geological modelling projects carried out in Rio Tinto Exploration and mining operations.

Create Rio Tinto industry best-practice geological modelling documentation. Provide guidance to Rio Tinto geoscientists in geological modeling practices. Full time employment, Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week.

Must have a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Geology and 10 years of geological work experience in mineral exploration, of which at least 5 years are progressive post-baccalaureate work experience.

Must have 10 years of experience in each of the following:

• Commodity experience including copper, iron and titanium, uranium, diamonds, nickel or borates; and
• GIS capabilities including software packages Map Info, Arc Map, or ArcGIS-Pro.

Must have 8 years of experience in each of the following:

• Geological mapping;
• AcQuire database management;
• Leap Frog Geo.

Must have 5 years of experience in management of drilling programs, drill core logging, set up and supervision of core-orientation and collection of structural data.

International travel required up to 15%;
Domestic travel required up to 15%.
