OpportunityIntegrated Design is looking for a talented and passionate Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team. A background in mining or heavy industrial and processing sectors is preferred. The successful candidate will primarily support mining work in Phoenix, Arizona, and will work as part of a strong interdisciplinary team on a variety of Energy & Resources projects across North America and internationally.
Key Responsibilities- Act as Engineer-of-Record for projects and/or project components.
- Lead project coordination meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
- Participate in client project requirement meetings, value engineering analysis, and basic cost estimating.
- Develop and manage project scope, budget, staffing, and schedule.
- Lead the preparation and coordination of project specifications and construction documents.
- Conduct quality assurance and quality control on own projects and peer projects.
- Assist with proposal development.
- Incorporate innovation, optimization, and standardization in designs.
- Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
- Develop electrical construction drawings, including single‑line diagrams, power and lighting plans, grounding plans, elevations, wiring diagrams, motor control schematics, riser diagrams, installation details, and schedules.
- Lead electrical technical specifications, equipment datasheets, and testing & commissioning plans.
- Coordinate electrical specifications and drawings with other disciplines.
- Model, study, and analyze power systems (load flow, short circuit, protective device coordination, arc flash, motor acceleration studies).
- Familiarize with mine infrastructure design, including switch rooms, cabling, tray systems, power distribution, and GPR/charging current assessments.
- Assist with electromechanical construction, startup, and commissioning field support.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
- Professional Engineering license required.
- Eligibility for a Professional Engineering license in Arizona and/or Utah.
- 15 years of engineering, design, and construction experience in heavy industry or mining.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and project management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and preferred tools such as AGi
32, Revit, ETAP, SKM, and Visual Lighting Software.
- Arizona, Colorado, Utah – primary office at Chandler, AZ.
- Office-based with flexible arrangement; hybrid work discussed.
- Travel to client sites and other Stantec offices (~10% travel).
- Locations in CO, HI, IL, MD – Min Salary: $117,800 – Max Salary: $176,800 (per year).
