Job Summary

Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for an Experienced Remediation Engineer, Hydrogeologist or Geologist in our Salt Lake City, Utah office. This position is well-suited for a talented, highly experienced individual who is interested in being a leader and contributing to innovative and challenging projects, including the financial and technical evaluation, design, permitting, and construction stages.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Collaboration and mentoring are cornerstones of Geosyntec’s culture. We operate under a sell‑manage‑do culture, and so we expect that you’d work on challenging technical projects while leveraging your existing knowledge and experience to help Geosyntec expand its current practices and capabilities through business development and client management. You may also be asked to take on project management responsibilities, along with staff management and development, and mentoring tasks.

Some of the key responsibilities may include:

  • Managing challenging technical projects while leveraging your existing knowledge and experience to help Geosyntec expand its current practices and capabilities through business development and client management;
  • Task and project management, including planning and implementing investigation and remediation projects, budgeting and budget management, adherence to schedule, quality, client satisfaction, and profitability;
  • Management and mentoring of junior staff and managing subcontractors;
  • Work plan development, data evaluation, and report writing;
  • Data analysis, including preparing maps and figures using GIS/Environmental Visualization Software (EVS) applications, and database management;
  • Prepare technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals;
  • Review and manage written document production;
  • Prepare for and participate in meetings with clients, regulatory personnel, and other parties;
  • Conduct fieldwork including multi‑media environmental sampling, sediment sampling and characterization, drilling oversight, contractor oversight, and remediation system operations, maintenance, and construction;
  • Direct multi-disciplinary project teams;
  • Task and project‑level responsibility for scoping, performing, managing and delivering multiple concurrent project assignments;
  • Consistent with our sell‑manage‑do business model, play a role supporting lead generation, business development, staff development, and mentoring; and
  • Help broaden our reputation via publishing and visibility at prominent industry conferences.
Education and Licensure
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, geology, or related field. (required)
  • Advanced degree in the same. (preferred)
  • Professional registration (i.e., P.E. or P.G.) or demonstrated ability to obtain (strongly preferred)
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
  • At least 7 years (8+ years preferred) of direct environmental consulting experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Experience with multi-disciplinary project teams. (required)
  • Demonstrated success in the development and management of clients. (required)
  • Proven leadership skills. (required)
  • Ability to succeed in a fast‑paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed. (required)
  • Regional visibility through involvement in professional associations or trade organizations. (preferred)
  • Field work and overnight travel may be required.
  • Current OSHA 40‑hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers. (preferred)
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client‑driven drug and background testing may be required.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
