Job Summary

Position: Research and Development Engineer II – Sustainability and Development of Medical Devices

BD (Becton Dickinson and Company) is a leading global medical technology company focused on advancing health. We are seeking an Engineer II to support sustainability and development of medical devices for BD’s healthcare products.

• Understand medical device regulations and design controls.
• Follow and execute testing according to existing methods.
• Understand and develop protocols, test methods, statistical analysis, and test report generation.
• Participate in the documentation of sustainability and product development risk activities and design controls.
• Apply engineering principles to solve basic engineering problems.
• Author requirements documents for subsystems or simple components.
• Participate in Voice of Customer activities.
• Understand the budgeting process and provide inputs to budget owners.
• Request and receive quotes; order project supplies.
• Report progress on tasks; complete management updates as requested.
• Work in a cross‑functional team and participate in cross‑functional activities.
• Select and apply analytical methods to interpret small, well‑characterized data sets; extract key information and present conclusions logically.
• Actively participate in team meetings, make recommendations, accept commitments, and deliver on commitments.
• Participate in problem‑solving activities in a team setting.
• Participate in project planning, estimating task duration, and resource needs.
• Communicate upcoming milestones frequently to team members.
• Interact with product managers and experienced engineers to understand business aspects of product development.
• Contribute to project teams where technical issues and product development challenges demand unique solutions.

• Bachelor's or Post‑Graduate degree (preferred) in STEM or related field.
• 0 – 5+ years of professional experience in product engineering.
• Experience gained in a classroom, internship, or co‑op setting.
• Strong technical degree work demonstrated.

Salt Lake City, UT, USA.

Salary Range: $75,000 – $100,000 (depending on experience and location).
