An Engineering Manager maintains high morale for engineering staff, coaches and counsels team members, ensures standards for the department are consistently achieved, promotes hotel service standards and policies, and manages the overall functionality of all life systems and equipment.

• Assist in administering outside engineering vendor contracts.
• Assist in establishing, implementing, and maintaining preventative maintenance schedules.
• Assist in monitoring and controlling parts and labor expenditures.
• Assist in selecting, training, supervising, developing, disciplining, and counseling employees according to departmental policies.
• Communicate with supervisor regarding all aspects of engineering operations.
• Demonstrate positive leadership characteristics, inspiring employees to meet and exceed standards.
• Direct and maintain all record‑keeping processes and systems.
• Ensure all life systems are operational and meet all requirements.
• Fulfill risk control duties as assigned.
• Implement safety, EPA, Haz Com procedures throughout the department.
• Inspect and document physical plant, equipment, hazards, systems, and general engineering operations.
• Maintain work areas clean and organized.
• Maintain documentation.
• Promote employee empowerment.
• Report all unsafe conditions immediately.
• Respond to all life‑system alarms.
• Assist in prioritizing all work requests, ensuring the handling of guest problems, staff problems, and internal hotel challenges.
• Complete other duties assigned by supervisor, including cross‑training.
• Order and receive all supplies and materials, maintain all purchase orders and budgetary data.
• Perform, in the capacity of any position supervised.
• Assist in conducting performance appraisals.
• Attend all mandatory meetings.

• Read, write, speak, and understand English fluently.
• Hotel, institutional, HVAC systems experience of 3–5 years.
• Refrigeration or HVAC certification, or journeyman‑level experience.
• Previous management or supervisory experience of 2–3 years.
• Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, life‑safety systems, preventative maintenance systems, and all related engineering disciplines.
• Basic computer and administrative skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with the public and other employees.
• No employee will pose a direct threat to the health or safety of self or others.
• Meet the minimum age requirement of the jurisdiction.
