Job Summary
The Hourly Teacher Intervention Specialist provides support and coaching to classroom teachers in need of assistance. The support provided may be in one or more of the following areas: lesson design, lesson delivery, student engagement, behavior supports and classroom culture.
Essential Functions- Provide support to current classroom teachers for 3-4 hours per week focusing on lesson design, lesson delivery, student engagement, behavior supports and classroom culture.
- Assist teachers with specific classroom strategies when appropriate.
- Provide support in classroom management and student engagement.
- Assist teachers with lesson planning and in aligning teaching with appropriate standards, curriculum, and assessments.
- Assist teachers in providing and maintaining a safe and supportive environment in the classroom and on the school campus.
- Participate in department meetings as required.
- Model professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, colleagues, and members of the community.
- Understand and adhere to laws, district policies, and procedures.
- Maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, school staff, district staff, and members of the community.
- Demonstrate professional ethics as outlined by the Utah Professional Practices Advisory Commission.
- Be a positive role model.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Possess strong oral and written communication skills.
- Possess strong computer and educational technology skills.
- Ability to work independently with little direct supervision.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Able to accept responsibility and be self-motivated.
- Demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain a positive learning environment and handle classroom management issues in a calm manner.
- Effective multi-tasking and time management skills.
- Requires a Utah State Board of Education (USBE) cleared criminal background check.
- Requires one of the following:
- a valid Professional Educator License issued by the Utah State Board of Education one of the following license areas of concentration:
- Early Childhood Education;
- Elementary;
- Secondary;
- Preschool Special Education; or
- Special Education; or
- an equivalent license in another state or country.

- Requires a minimum of three (3) years of successful classroom teaching experience.
