Job Summary
This is a LEADERSHIP role for Club U’s 5-9 year old day camps that supervises camp counselors, schedules summer programming, develops activities for youth, and engages with parents regarding camper behavior.
Responsibilities- Off-season (non-summer) – Evaluate existing programming and develop new activities, lessons, games, and partnerships for 5-9 year olds; assist in May staff training; assist in hiring summer Camp Counselor staff; obtain CPR & First Aid certification during training.
- Summer – Prepare, assist in delivering, and evaluate developed activities; supervise, evaluate, and provide feedback to Camp Counselor staff under the direction of Camp Director; physically respond to and assist with emergencies and urgent matters.
- Three years experience as a classroom assistant in a related academic area, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience).
- Knowledge and understanding of a variety of teaching methods, and a thorough knowledge of related academic subjects to develop classroom activities/programs.
- Demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills to conduct educational activities and/or training sessions in a clear and concise manner.
- Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.
- Experience working with youth ages 5-9.
- Experience developing and/or facilitating activities, programs, or lessons.
- Comfortability with frequent emails, phone calls, and in-person customer and partner interactions.
Temporary position:
February–March: 10 h/week (flexible), April: 15–20 h/week (flexible), May: 20–40 h/week (increasing), standard office hours & some evening staff trainings, June 1–August 14: 40 h/week, Mon‑Fri 7:40 a.m.–3:40 p.m. Termination date:
August 31, 2026. Post‑term extension may be available September–January (5–10 h/week).
