Teach Accounting courses for the SLCC Accounting department. Courses may include any subject in which the adjunct is qualified, at the 1000 or 2000 level. Classes are offered in daytime and evening hours at any SLCC campus and may also include weekends. Possible delivery modalities may include on‑site, online, and livestream. If online or livestream are assigned, the adjunct will be trained on the modality.

The adjunct will work closely with the full‑time faculty on course design and instruction.

Compensation

This position is paid at $1,056 per instructional unit.

In accordance with SLCC policy, adjunct positions are offered on a semester‑by‑semester basis with no guarantee of continued employment. Official transcripts are required for those who are offered employment within 30 days of hire.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Teach courses at times and dates as assigned. Be present, reliable, and prompt.
  • Be responsive, respectful, and available to students inside and outside the classroom.
  • Follow guidelines set forth by full‑time faculty.
  • Give students prompt, courteous, respectful, and helpful feedback on their work.
  • Provide students with clear and fair expectations and grade accordingly. Use department‑approved materials and syllabi.
  • Make clear to students how assessments map to the course learning outcomes.
Fulfilling the Higher Education Mission
  • Become familiar with and abide by all college policies, especially those governing interactions with colleagues, staff, administrators, and departments.
  • Maintain professional etiquette in communications with students, staff, faculty, and administrators.
  • Provide appropriate and timely feedback for all assignments.
  • Return graded assignments in a timely fashion per department standards.
  • Maintain student attendance records (for Financial Aid purposes) and grades.
  • Conduct appropriate evaluations of student performance.
  • Inform students of progress‑to‑date periodically and assign and submit grades by published deadlines.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe and mutually respectful instructional environment.
  • Prepare and submit incident reports to the Dean of Student Services for inappropriate student behavior as defined by the Code of Student Rights and Responsibilities Policy.
  • Maintain professional and collegial behavior.
  • Handle/respond to student concerns/complaints, and respond to student communications and inquiries promptly (generally within 1‑2 days).
  • Maintain professional appearance as defined by discipline and/or College procedure.
  • Complete all required employee trainings.
  • Know and enforce FERPA guidelines.
  • Provide ADA accommodations as requested.
  • Perform other job‑related duties as needed.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

    Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people with a variety of abilities and backgrounds, and to maintain good working relationships across the College.

    Ability to work with all groups from a variety of academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, including community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities.

    All Faculty will maintain an on‑site campus presence to encourage in‑person relationships and create engaging, meaningful, and impactful learning experiences unless approved for online‑only courses.

    You are employed as an Adjunct Faculty member/Instructor on a contract‑to‑contract basis, with no future expectation or obligation for employment. Your employment may be terminated At Will at any time.

    You are required to maintain professional boundaries with all SLCC students.

    Qualifications
    • Master’s degree in Accounting,
    • or Bachelor’s degree in accounting with CPA from an accredited college or university,
    • or Master’s degree in a closely related field and three years of accounting industry experience,
    • and verification of completion of requirements by time of employment with official transcripts.
    • Non‑teaching full‑time (or FTE) work experience in accounting or related field.
    • College‑level teaching/corporate training experience.
    • Knowledge and experience in technology‑enhanced instruction.
