Position Overview
Under mentorship of an assigned full-time faculty member, prepare and teach Introductory and Intermediate English Composition and other English courses as needed. Faculty may be assigned to any SLCC location.
This is a pooled position. The department reviews applications as positions become available.
Please attach resume or CV, transcripts, or other documents for consideration. Indicate (1) availability to teach in-person, including days/times/locations; (2) experience teaching online; and (3) preference for specific courses.
1) Adjunct positions are offered semester‑by‑semester with no guarantee of continued employment.
2) Official transcripts are required for those offered employment within 30 days of hire.
Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people with a variety of abilities and backgrounds, to maintain good working relationships across the college.
Ability to work with all groups from a variety of academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, and with community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities.
Other RequirementsAll faculty will maintain an on‑site campus presence to encourage in‑person relationships and create engaging, meaningful, and impactful learning experiences unless approved for online‑only courses.
You are employed as an Adjunct Faculty member/Instructor on a contract‑to‑contract basis, with no future expectation or obligation for employment. Your employment may be terminated At Will at any time.
You are required to maintain professional boundaries with all SLCC students.
Bachelor’s Degree in English, Composition, Writing Theory, or a related field; current enrollment in graduate program with partner institution; acceptance into Apprenticeship program; one‑year experience teaching composition at a post‑secondary institution.
