Under department supervision, the faculty member will teach (including team‑teaching) ASL/English interpreting courses for the American Sign Language/English Interpreting program as assigned by the ASL/Interpreting Coordinator and/or the Associate Dean.
This is a pooled position. The department reviews applications as positions become available.
CompensationPaid at $1,056 per instructional unit.

- Follows the course curriculum outline, prepares and delivers lectures and other classroom activities.
- Prepares and administers student evaluations.
- Keeps accurate classroom records.
- Provides ADA accommodations as directed.

- Follows SLCC policies and procedures.
- Proficiency in American Sign Language with demonstrated ability to converse fluently in high level professional and academic conversation in ASL required.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, cultures, backgrounds, and abilities, to maintain good working relationships across the College.
- Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic background of community college students, faculty and staff, including those with disabilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in ASL/English Interpreting, or in ASL education, Linguistics, or a related field (e.g. Deaf Studies or Deaf Education) from an accredited college or university is required.
- Proficiency in American Sign Language with demonstrated ability to converse fluently in high level professional and academic conversation in ASL required.
- Interpreter certification RID, NAD IV‑V, Utah CDI and/or Utah Professional.
- Teaching experience in ASL/English Interpreting.
- Ability to read and write standard English.
- Ability to use computer technology and programs, including email, spreadsheets, and program specific applications.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Master’s degree in ASL/English Interpreting or related field preferred.
- Three (3) years full‑time or five (5) years part‑time college‑level teaching experience in ASL/English Interpreting.
