Family Search Library Scanning Center, on-site, full-time

Job DescriptionHelp individuals and families fulfill their divinely appointed responsibility to search out their families and perform for them the sacred ordinances of the temple.
Job objectives within that mission
Ensure that the Family Search Library’s collection is digitized for the Digital Library and is current, relevant, accurate, and accessible in such a manner that it will engage, retain, and inspire guests and helpers to discover, gather, and connect to their family.
Responsibilities- Assist in overseeing the scanning center operation at the Family Search Library, including supervising and training missionaries
- Ensure that metadata for scanned items is complete and accurate before and after scanning
- Understand, maintain, and create best practices for the book scanning operation workflow
- Troubleshoot and update computer and scanning equipment as needed
- Work closely with members of the team to collaborate on a variety of assignments
- Create and communicate clear metric and reporting measures
- Participate in regular meetings with several teams across the department
- Additional responsibilities may include correcting cataloging errors, the removal and shifting of collections, creating training material, coordinating projects, and other assignments as needed
A bachelor’s degree in related field with at least 3-5 years of professional experience.
Master's degree in library & information science or related field of study or the equivalent combination of experience and training, preferred
Minimum of 2-4 years' experience working in a library or similar environment.
Excellent project and operation coordination skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to create and cultivate working relationships with individuals across many teams.
Able to communicate in a professional manner with higher management.
Excellent presentation skills to internal and external audiences.
Advanced personal computer skills and demonstrated advanced proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
Be self-directed on assignments and responsible for the accuracy and completeness of the work.
Ability to set priorities.
Knowledge of a Library catalog system preferred.
