The Department of History at the University of Utah seeks to appoint a career-line Assistant Professor (Lecturer) in US History, with a preference for specialization in legal, economic, or political history. Applicants must demonstrate a clear commitment to History teaching and include evidence of pedagogical expertise in their application. The successful candidate will teach a mix of survey classes and upper-division courses in their areas of expertise.
The teaching load is 4-4. This position is on a 3-year contract.
A Ph.D. in History by July 1, 2026, is preferred, but applications from ABDs will be considered. Applicants should submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, writing sample, statement of teaching methods and philosophy, and syllabi of courses taught or proposed by February 27, 2026. Please upload syllabi to writing sample 2. All applicants will be asked to provide the names and email addresses of referees.
References will be contacted to submit letters of recommendation only if the applicant advances to the first round of interviews
