DetailsThe University of Utah College of Social Work (“College”) invites applications for multiple 12-month career‑line faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor (Lecturer) with teaching responsibilities in the BSW and MSW programs. The College is especially interested in candidates whose teaching focuses on mental health; child welfare; substance use and addictions; organizations and communities; human rights and social justice; and technology in social work practice;
however, candidates with teaching interests and/or expertise in other areas are encouraged to apply. The candidates selected for these positions will have demonstrated excellence in teaching. This is a non‑tenure track position intended to be a long‑term position within the University’s Career‑Line Faculty structure, with a renewable contract. This is an “in person” position, and the successful candidate will work on site at the College in Salt Lake City.

Required QualificationsApplicants must have earned an MSW degree from a Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) accredited program; a doctorate in social work or in a related field is preferred. A minimum of three years social work teaching experience is required. Additionally, a minimum of two years of post‑MSW social work practice experience is required; five or more years of post‑MSW social work practice experience is preferred.
Individuals from backgrounds traditionally under‑represented in higher education are particularly encouraged to apply.
Teach undergraduate and/or graduate‑level courses during fall, spring and summer semester.
Prepare, design, and deliver lectures and course content.
Utilize innovative and inclusive teaching methods to engage learners with a broad array of backgrounds and experiences.
Facilitate class discussions and activities.
Create and administer course assignments, examinations, and other assessments.
Proactively engage with and support the success of students.
Support and contribute to curriculum development efforts as needed for courses.
Ensure the quality of teaching by engaging in ongoing professional development opportunities.
Create and maintain cooperative, collaborative, and effective working relationships with administrators, faculty members, and staff in the delivery of courses and programs.
Participate in college and university committees.
Perform other duties as assigned by the dean.
