Overview
Details The Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at the University of Utah School of Medicine is recruiting for a Pediatric Infectious Diseases Physician with interest and experience in Hospital Epidemiology. This position is open to both junior faculty as well as more senior faculty including those with leadership experience in Hospital Epidemiology. Responsibilities include a significant role in the infection prevention and hospital epidemiology program, as well as clinical consultation on the inpatient service and in the Infectious Diseases clinic.

Clinical activities will be carried out at Primary Children’s Hospital, a 290-bed children’s hospital ranked among U.S. News & World Report’s Best Hospitals, and in the University of Utah and Intermountain Healthcare systems, including at our new Primary Children’s Hospital location in Lehi, UT.
In addition to clinical service, there is an expectation for academic work that can include investigation, education, administration/service and/or advocacy.
- Involvement with the Hospital Epidemiology team at Primary Children’s Hospital, including collaboration with three Infectious Diseases physicians and four Infection Preventionists.
- Direct involvement in hospital epidemiology at the main campus and the Miller campus in Lehi, UT.
- Advising Children’s Health for Intermountain Healthcare on infection prevention for children throughout the system.
- Contributing to clinical service at Primary Children’s Hospital and related systems, with opportunities for quality improvement and research.
- Division includes 12 full-time, one part-time and one adjunct faculty member, three APPs, one RN, and a Pharm
D faculty member who co-leads the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program with MD faculty. - Active fellowship program including a global health track.
- Research focuses on infectious disease epidemiology, antimicrobial stewardship, health services research and value-based care, diagnostic test development and impact, and care for children with cancer and transplants.
- Engagement with public health collaborators at the Utah Department of Health and Human Services on outbreak investigations, statewide surveillance, antimicrobial stewardship, and epi/stewardship projects.
- Active collaborations with CDC-funded epicenter networks and involvement in infectious disease modeling research via CDC CFA funding.
- Partnerships with state and county health departments for research, public health, and epidemiologic work.
- Board Eligible/Board Certified in Pediatrics and in Pediatric Infectious Diseases or Infectious Diseases.
- Demonstrated research, quality improvement skills, or other scholarly activity.
- Faculty appointment on the Clinical or Tenure track at the Department of Pediatrics, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
