Position: Pediatric Cardiologist - Las Vegas, NV / Rank Dependent on Qualifications

Overview

The Division of Pediatric Cardiology in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Utah School of Medicine seeks a Pediatric Cardiologist to join our team at Primary Children's Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada, to establish an outpatient clinic program. Responsibilities include providing care for newborns, infants, and children with congenital and acquired heart diseases in outpatient settings initially and inpatient settings upon completion of the Primary Children's Hospital Las Vegas.

Outpatient responsibilities include general cardiology clinics and possibly subspecialty clinics based on the incumbents' training. Ability to perform fetal echocardiograms will be prioritized. Overnight call responsibilities are expected and divided among Las Vegas division faculty. Inpatient responsibilities will occur within Primary Children s Hospital - Las Vegas upon completion of the hospital. Demonstrated leadership and excellent communication skills are required for this position.

Consulting responsibilities on additional units including the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit will be required. Academic productivity in quality improvement, research, teaching, and advocacy is expected and supported by the Division.

Responsibilities
  • Provide care for newborns, infants, and children with congenital and acquired heart diseases in outpatient and inpatient settings.
  • Participate in general cardiology clinics and possible subspecialty clinics based on training.
  • Prioritize fetal echocardiography when applicable.
  • Share overnight call responsibilities among Las Vegas division faculty.
  • Conduct inpatient care at Primary Children s Hospital - Las Vegas when the hospital is operational.
  • Engage in consulting on additional units including the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit.
  • Participate in academic activities related to quality improvement, research, teaching, and advocacy.
Qualifications
  • Board Eligible/Board Certified in Pediatric Cardiology.
  • Expertise in General Pediatric Cardiology.
  • Ability to perform fetal echocardiograms (prioritized).
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Academic productivity in quality improvement, research, teaching, and advocacy is expected and supported.
Research and Collaboration

The Division has an active research program with strong support infrastructure. It has been a core site of the Pediatric Heart Network of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) since its inception and participates in the NPC-QIC and major registries (PC4, PAC3, IMPACT, ACTION, FON, and others). It is also a core site for the Scientific Focus Research Network of the American Heart Association (AHA).

Opportunities for collaborative research exist within the Division, the Department, the Medical School, and the University of Utah.

Appointment, Salary, and Benefits

Qualified candidates will receive a faculty appointment in the Department of Pediatrics on the Clinical or Tenure Track at an academic rank commensurate with experience and qualifications.
