Overview

The Huntsman Mental Health Institute and the Child Psychiatry Division in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Utah Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine are seeking a dedicated and motivated full-time Child and Adolescent Inpatient Psychiatrist to join its faculty. The position supports clinical services in inpatient psychiatry for children and adolescents and offers a faculty appointment with rank determined by academic experience and professional accomplishments.

Qualifications
  • Current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Utah or eligibility to obtain one.
  • Expertise in child and adolescent inpatient psychiatry.
  • Completion of a Psychiatry residency and a Triple Board residency or a Child and Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship is required.
  • Board certified or board eligible in Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
  • Obtaining board certifications is a requirement for retention.
Responsibilities
  • Clinical care:
    Use clinical psychiatry skills to serve inpatient mental health needs; maintain a strong commitment to clinical care; call is an expected clinical responsibility for all faculty members; provide cross-coverage for vacations and meetings. Specific assignments coordinated through the Child Psychiatry Division Chief.
  • Investigation:
    Engage in scholarly activities and develop durable materials (papers, courses, presentations, posters, games) based on scholarly activity.
  • Education:

    Engage in patient care activities with learners (residents, medical students, fellows, and trainees from other disciplines); serve as medical student and resident mentor; teach and supervise medical students, residents, fellows, and other trainees during psychiatric clinical rotations.
  • Administration:
    Administrative duties associated with clinical care; administrative service to the Department of Psychiatry, the School of Medicine and the health system, including peer review and committee participation; report to and be reviewed annually by the Division Chief as part of School of Medicine faculty appointment; percentage of effort in clinical, education, investigation, and administrative activities is negotiated annually.
