About the RoleWe are seeking a Senior Architect to lead a talented team of architects and designers who work primarily as design managers. This team supports the global work of departments headquartered in the Salt Lake City area and includes educational, office, manufacturing, retail, residential, medical, hospitality, performance, religious, and historic facilities in 70+ properties totaling over 9 million square feet.

Responsibilities- Leadership & Vision:
Define design and technical direction for complex, high-profile projects. Provide effective design leadership, management, and supervision for project teams, including hired consultants and in-house teams. Ensuring high levels of performance from concept through occupancy. - Collaboration:
Oversee a collaborative design process, coordinating schedule and costs with project managers, and working closely with outside consultants and internal stakeholders across departments to deliver projects that meet business needs and desired outcomes. - Mentorship:
Guide, mentor, and inspire architects, designers, and interns, fostering professional growth in a positive and inclusive team culture. - Quality & Accountability:
Ensure all project requirements are properly established and met, maintaining accountability to budgets, schedules, and standards of design and construction. - Continuous Improvement:
Stay at the forefront of industry best practices, codes, and technologies through ongoing professional development, curious learning, and project reviews that can enhance the experiences of visitors, volunteers, students, employees, and leadership.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture
- Minimum 10 years of post-education experience practicing architecture, with a proven track record of leading design teams and managing complex projects
- Architectural license required
- Proficiency in design software (Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Suite, etc.) and document transfer systems
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and team-building abilities
- Commitment to the values and mission of the Church, including temple worthiness and exemplary personal conduct
