Job Description & How to Apply Below

The University Utah Marketing & Communications is looking for a full-time, seasoned videographer/editor to join our video team. We seek someone with high-production standards who can shoot beautiful footage and then turn that into a well-crafted edit and final videos. You must be adept with on‑set lighting, sound and the technical aspects of running a camera. We also need a collaborator who can take direction, work hard, and enjoy the process.

The University has many stories to tell and produces many videos each year. This requires occasional odd hours, weekend work, and extra effort to create great work. We are proud of the videos we create and need a person who will contribute to our ongoing success and even elevate it. A drone pilot is a plus, and knowledge of After Effects and motion graphics is also helpful.

The ideal candidate has at least five years of experience, a bachelor’s degree, and a get‑along, can‑do personality. The University of Utah provides an outstanding benefits package, excellent health care, and a good work/life balance. If you are interested, you must submit a resume, letter, and links to your video work.

Responsibilities
  • Setup and run video cameras, lighting and sound equipment on shoots.
  • Edit videos using Adobe Premiere. Must be able to color grade, use Adobe After Effects, and mix sound.
  • Edit videos in a timely manner, take feedback and provide updated versions.
  • Handle the University's film equipment with care and safety.
  • Keep film equipment organized and clean at UMC House.
  • Follow directions of supervisors and director.
  • Work collaboratively with a positive attitude.
  • Be available to work occasionally on weekends and evenings, including some travel.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related area or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). Four to six years of progressively more responsible management experience. Background knowledge of the hiring department's area of specialization to analyze, plan and draw conclusions for recommendations to superiors. Demonstrated leadership skills in planning and directing employees and processes to effectively monitor and develop subordinates and to ensure smooth operation of the department.

Master's degree in a related area may be preferred.

Preferences

Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description. We are looking for someone with at least five years of experience in both on‑set filming and editing. We also want someone with an upbeat and can‑do attitude.
