Estimator / Project Manager – Heavy Civil Construction

Employment Type: Full-Time

About the Company

A well-established, Utah-based heavy civil and site development contractor with 30+ years of consistent success is seeking an Estimator / Project Manager to join its growing team. The company operates with a vertically integrated model, providing excavation, earthwork, and site development services as a single-source solution for home builders, developers, and commercial contractors throughout Utah.

This is a family-owned organization with a strong reputation for innovation, accountability, and long-term employee development. The culture is collaborative, performance-driven, and focused on doing the work the right way—while supporting teammates and maintaining a practical, down-to-earth work environment.

The Opportunity

This is a hybrid Estimator / Project Manager role designed to flex based on individual strengths. The successful candidate may:

  • Estimate projects that are later handed off to other PMs
  • Manage projects from preconstruction through closeout
  • Operate primarily as a PM with light estimating responsibilities

The role is not siloed—you’ll be involved across the project lifecycle depending on workload, expertise, and business needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate and timely estimates for heavy civil and site development scopes
  • Manage projects cradle-to-grave, including budgets, schedules, reporting, and closeout
  • Coordinate with field teams, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders
  • Support proposal preparation, scope reviews, and bid strategy
  • Maintain strong cost control, documentation, and follow-through
  • Operate effectively in a fast-paced, accountability-driven environment

Qualifications & Attributes

  • Strong understanding of civil scopes (earthwork, utilities, grading, excavation)
  • High integrity and strong ethical standards
  • Excellent organizational skills; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and construction software
  • Motivated to learn, grow, and improve processes
  • Ability to pass standard pre-employment requirements
  • Heavy civil estimating software (e.g., B2W)
  • Earthwork takeoff tools (e.g., AGTEK, In Site )
  • Accounting / job cost systems
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Competitive compensation based on experience
  • Medical insurance with employer contribution
  • Dental, vision, life, and supplemental insurance options
  • Short- and long-term disability
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid holidays and vacation
  • Benefits eligibility begins shortly after hire
