Traveling Superintendent, Construction at ARCO Design/Build

About You

You’ll need 5–25 years of experience leading ground‑up, light industrial construction projects of 100 k sq ft and above. You’ll have the opportunity to manage the construction and administrative activities associated with the field operations of a project from day one—bringing the project to completion on schedule, within budget, and per the project specifications.

A Day in the Life
  • Attend post‑award review meetings to receive project information and pre‑planning details
  • Participate with the project manager in preparing a construction schedule, staff selection, and equipment requirements
  • Direct and control the total construction project to meet specifications and schedule efficiently
  • Assist the project manager/engineer with shipments, approvals of shop drawings and material samples
  • Coordinate subcontractor activities so they integrate with project schedules
  • Inform supervisors and subcontractors promptly of schedule changes
  • Assist in preparing job progress and cost reports accurately reflecting actual costs
  • Review and approve requisitions, purchase orders, invoices, and significant reports and documents
  • Cooperate with owners and representatives, keeping them informed of progress
  • Cooperate with architects or owners’ representatives on a long‑term beneficial basis
  • Hold job‑site meetings with the project manager and regional manager
  • Report regularly to the project manager on job progress, plans, and significant issues
  • Maintain a daily diary recording all significant project facts, events, conditions, and approvals
  • Ensure adherence to the company’s safety program in all phases
  • Make decisions under tight deadlines
  • Organize people, tools, and equipment to accomplish desired results
  • Demonstrate leadership, face challenges, and address conflict effectively
  • Exhibit commitment to quality by evaluating processes and exceeding expectations
  • Act with integrity, supporting the company, its values, and employees while focusing on customer satisfaction
Necessary Qualifications
  • 5–25 years of construction experience, with at least 5 years as a lead superintendent on projects of 100 k sq ft or larger
  • At least five years of recent experience working within the Southeast
  • Willingness to travel nationally
  • Computer skills: proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and project scheduling programs
  • Valid driver’s license in your state of residence
  • Physical ability to stand or walk for long periods, work on uneven terrain, bend, kneel, crouch, climb stairs, and lift up to 50 pounds
