Regulatory Compliance Specialist
Overview
The Senior Compliance Specialist plays a key role in developing, managing, and enhancing Black Diamond’s product compliance and ESG compliance programs. This position ensures that products meet global regulatory, environmental, and sustainability requirements; maintains compliance documentation and records; and leads the coordination of testing, certifications, and audit activities. The role also supports ESG reporting by gathering, validating, and analyzing data from cross-functional stakeholders.
In this senior role, the specialist serves as a subject-matter expert for internal teams, suppliers, and regulatory partners—driving clarity, consistency, and continuous improvement within compliance systems and processes. The ideal candidate is a proactive, detail-oriented professional with strong analytical capabilities, the ability to manage complex data sets, and has the confidence to collaborate effectively across cross-functional stakeholders.
ResponsibilitiesEducation
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree
Alternative Qualification: 7+ years of regulatory or compliance experience in consumer goods or a related field.
Work Experience
Required: Minimum 4 years in a compliance, legal, regulatory, sustainability, or equivalent role
Preferred: Experience in a regulated industry (PPE, automotive, aerospace, medical device, or consumer goods). Demonstrable experience with managing/leading teams in a dynamic environment. Experience interpreting and applying complex regulatory or legal frameworks and standards (e.g., ISO, CPSC, RoHS, CSRD, PPWR).

- Advanced research, communication, writing, critical thinking, and risk assessment skills, including the ability to translate regulatory requirements into actionable guidance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with document control systems, compliance management tools, and material library databases preferred.
- Strong project management, problem-solving, and time management skills, with the ability to lead compliance initiatives and ensure timely fulfillment of regulatory obligations.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise sound judgement, and escalate compliance or regulatory issues appropriately.
Technical Knowledge
- Familiarity with hard goods, soft goods, and apparel products and materials, including relevant manufacturing processes, testing protocols, and certification pathways.
