PurposeOversee and review the preparation and accurate, timely processing of weekly payrolls for hourly union teammates in various states within the US West, while also performing additional payroll functions such as certified payroll reporting and other related payroll activities.
KeyDuties & Responsibilities
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
- Work closely with NRF locations in the US West to manage, process, and analyze weekly payrolls for union teammates.
- Enter and process certified payroll records, ensuring Davis-Bacon and related acts, prevailing wage calculations, and reporting to agencies like L&I (Labor & Industries).
- Onboard new teammates into our enterprise/payroll platform.
- Ensure compliance with Garnishments and support orders, Federal, state, and local tax with holdings, SOX requirements, payroll policies, benefit plans, labor laws, and payroll tax matters.
- Work with various Labor Unions to ensure current wage packages are paid, as set by the Collective Bargaining Agreements.
- Process requests for employment verification (mortgage companies, new employers, Workers’ Comp, Unemployment, etc.).
- Handle manual checks and wire transfers.
- Respond to management and employee inquiries promptly to ensure resolution.
- This role will manage multiple complex tasks under deadline pressure.
- High attention to detail and confidentiality is required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.
- 3+ years of experience with automated payroll systems.
- Associate’s degree in accounting or related field of study.
Physical Demands:
- Typical office activities.
- Walking, sitting, standing, bending, and must be able to walk up and down stairs.
- Using hands to operate objects, tools, computers, and other electronic equipment.
- Lifting/handling computers and related equipment (typically not more than 25 pounds).
- Vision abilities, including close vision and adjusting focus.
- Moderate noise level.
- Must be able to work overtime when required.
- Handle sensitive and confidential information with sound judgment and tact.
