The Quality Assurance (QA) Specialist will perform or assist in a variety of quality control and inspection work related to Outside Plant Telecommunications construction, ensuring all relevant standards, codes and regulations are met for all stages of the construction process.
The position will also be a liaison in the field for the design and Infrastructure teams, performing site audits, verification of pathways and engaging in customer and client on-site relations. This position will also be responsible for managing any subcontractors performing work on their assigned sites.
This is a full-time, field-based opportunity. Travel will be required in the Lower Mainland and potentially a small percentage of the time to the Island. A company truck will therefore be provided for this opportunity.
The expected hourly wage for this position is in the range of $33.60 - 40.00 based on the richness and diversity of the candidate’s experience, training, skills and internal equity. The position or associated salary could vary depending on the profile of the candidate.
YOU WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO:- Inspect both in progress and completed projects to ensure they comply with the project specifications and the company’s quality control standards
- Identify, report, and resolve work that does not meet the quality requirements
- Complete all associated documentation and forms for individual inspections, ensuring accuracy of all documents
- Participate in internal and external quality control audits
- Act as the field liaison for build, design, vendor, and client representatives.
- Attend site meetings as required
- Perform site Safety inspections as required
- Assist in project previews, estimates, and evaluate post-construction redlines, test results and completion documentation for accuracy
- Provide Quality Control support for internal crews and sub-contractors
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with external clients as well as vendors
- Manage large volumes of work including scheduling work, and remove roadblocks as appropriate (i.e., materials, permitting issues, unforeseen changes during construction)
- 3-5 years of experience in an Industrial or Telecommunications construction environment is required
- Fiber and Outside Plant construction knowledge is essential (including an understanding of drilling operations)
- Knowledge of the various construction disciplines and their procedures
- Civil construction experience would be considered an asset
- Strong computer skills
- Ability work independently and in various weather conditions
- Class 5 License with clean Driver's Abstract required
- Must be able to successfully complete a criminal background check
