Job Summary
The Manufacturing Electrician is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of electrical systems and equipment within the manufacturing environment. This role involves performing electrical repairs, maintenance, troubleshooting, and installations of electrical systems and components used in production machinery.
Key Responsibilities Electrical Maintenance- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on electrical systems and equipment, including machinery, control panels, circuit breakers, and lighting.
- Ensure that all electrical systems are functioning efficiently and meet safety
- Diagnose electrical issues in machinery and equipment, including motor controls, transformers, sensors, wiring, and circuit boards.
- Repair or replace faulty components such as motors, drives, controllers, wiring, and fuses.
- Troubleshoot and resolve electrical malfunctions in a timely manner to minimize production downtime.
- Install new electrical systems, machinery, and equipment in compliance with local electrical codes and safety standards.
- Assist in the installation and commissioning of new production machinery or upgrades to existing systems.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures, when performing electrical work.
- Ensure compliance with National Electrical Code (NEC) and local regulatory standards for electrical installations and maintenance.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Recommend and assist in upgrading electrical systems to improve efficiency and support new production technologies.
- Modify existing systems to meet new production requirements or safety standards.
- Keep accurate records of electrical maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections.
- Document electrical issues, repairs, and upgrades, as well as pars used.
- Maintain electrical schematics and wiring diagrams for equipment and systems.
- Work with production staff and other maintenance technicians to resolve electrical issues affecting production.
- Provide technical support and training to operations or other staff members on proper use of maintenance of electrical equipment.
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels of electrical parts and supplies, such as wiring, fuses, and circuit breakers.
- Order necessary parts and components as needed to ensure that repairs can be made promptly.
- Identify and recommend improvements to electrical systems to enhance performance, efficiency, and safety.
- Stay up to date with emerging electrical technologies and trends to help improve the facility's electrical infrastructure.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or related field is preferred.
- Proven experience as an electrician in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, including power distribution, motors. PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), sensors, and control panels.
- Knowledge of electrical safety codes, including NEC (National Electrical Code, and relevant safety regulations.
- Proficient in using electrical test equipment, such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and electrical diagnostic tools.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in various environmental conditions (temperature variations, noise, etc.).
- Ability to stand, kneel, crouch, and climb ladders or scaffolding to access electrical systems.
- Manufacturing facility with exposure to machinery, noise, dust, and potentially hazardous materials.
- Occasional overtime or weekend work may be required, depending on production schedules or emergency repairs.
- Must comply with safety regulations and wear appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), including gloves, safety glasses, and protective footwear.
