Job Summary:
The Manufacturing Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on manufacturing equipment and machinery. The technician ensures all systems are operational, performs routine inspections, and supports production teams to maintain optimal manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities:Preventive Maintenance:
- Perform scheduled inspections and maintenance on production machinery and equipment to prevent malfunctions.
- Replace parts or components, lubricate machines, and adjust settings to maintain peak performance.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic problems on production equipment.
- Repair or replace damaged or faulty components (motors, conveyors, hydraulic systems, etc.) as quickly as possible to minimize downtime.
- Utilize diagnostic tools, meters, and other test equipment to identify issues.
- Assist in the setup and calibration of new equipment and machinery.
- Ensure that machines and systems are correctly installed and functional before production begins.
- Follow all workplace safety standards, including lockout/tagout procedures, to ensure a safe working environment.
- Ensure that equipment is properly maintained to meet health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Keep accurate records of maintenance work, repairs, and equipment performance.
- Document any repairs, spare parts used, and time spent on tasks.
- Report any recurring issues or equipment failures to management for further analysis.
- Work with production teams and supervisors to resolve mechanical issues quickly to avoid production delays.
- Provide technical assistance and advice to operators and other team members.
- Collaborate with other maintenance personnel to complete major repairs or system upgrades.
- Maintain a stock of essential parts and tools for repairs.
- Order spare parts and tools as needed to ensure readiness for equipment maintenance.
- Identify opportunities for improving maintenance processes and efficiency.
- Suggest and implement improvements to prevent breakdowns and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
- High school diploma or equivalent required); as an associate degree in Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering, or related field is preferred.
- Proven experience as a Maintenance Technician in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic knowledge.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
- Experience with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Familiarity with safety standards, including OSHA regulations and lockout/tagout procedures.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues independently.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, kneel, crouch, or climb to access machinery and equipment.
- Ability to work in a noisy, sometimes hot or cold industrial environment.
- Comfortable working with a variety of tools and machinery.
- Work is performed in a manufacturing or industrial setting with exposure to machinery, dust, and noise.
- Occasional overtime, weekend, or on-call work may be required to support production needs.
- May work in various weather conditions or in areas that require special safety equipment.
