Lightning Conductor Engineer. This is the perfect entry point into an industry that protects buildings, infrastructure, and people from lightning hazards.

As an Apprentice Lightning Protection Operative, you’ll work alongside qualified Engineers, learning how to install, maintain, and repair lightning protection systems on a variety of client sites. This dynamic role offers a mix of practical experience, teamwork, and technical skill-building, setting you up for a rewarding career in electrical earthing and lightning protection.

• Hands-on training with experienced Lightning Protection Engineers
• Structured class-based learning through the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB)
• Block study periods requiring occasional overnight stays

At the end of the programme, you will have acquired the skills and experience to move into a lightning protection engineering role, with a competitive annual salary starting from c.£29,107.

The skills you develop in this programme provide an excellent foundation for a successful future in lightning protection, which could see you progress into roles such as a Lightning Protection Fitter, and other specialist roles within this sector.

• GCSEs in English & Maths (Grade 4 or higher) – Essential
• Full UK Driving Licence – Preferable but not essential (we offer financial support towards your driving test if you’re still learning!)
• Strong communication skills – Ability to follow instructions and report back clearly
• Attention to detail – Ensuring all work meets high safety and accuracy standards
• Organisational skills – Time management and prioritising tasks effectively
• Problem-solving mindset – Adapting to new challenges and working efficiently
• Physical fitness with a head for heights – Comfortable working outdoors and at elevated levels
